We were able to go to the LA Galaxy scout day on Sam and Nathan's Birthday. This is what Sam wanted to do since he would officially be a Boy Scout. We stayed the night and went to Redondo Beach the next day and enjoyed a nice Mexican food meal on the pier. This is one of Nathan's favorite beaches. :)
We are now a month into summer and boy has it gone by so fast. We started the summer off with Timothy's Eagle project. He is working with the city and creating a community inventory book of vacant commercial buildings, including details and pictures on each building. He has put in numerous hours and is still working on it. The goal is that from this book the city will be able to start marketing companies to come in and occupy these vacant buildings. I am so proud of Timothy and the young man he has become. Timothy competed in a soccer tournament in Torrance, CA and the next day we put him on a plane by himself out of LAX to Utah to spend 2 weeks with family and at EFY. Sadly he did not use his camera to take pictures while at EFY like his mother asked. He did get a picture sent to him via e-mail from a girl:)
Timothy with his cousin Joshua!
We were able to meet up with our good friends the Clementes ,they had a layover in CA on their way back from Japan and wanted us to meet them. It was so great hearing about their adventure of the last three years in Japan! We are looking forwards to spending time with them in South Carolina in a month!!
I was able to celebrate my birthday with all the family but Timothy:( I guess I need to get used to it, he could be gone on a mission in less than 3 years. A friend surprised me and made me a homemade chocolate cheesecake. Other friends stopped by throughout the day and in the evening some came for cake. Nathan took me shopping to remodel the main bathroom and to have a tub put in our bathroom. The best part is all of this will be done while we are on vacation in August.
The kids just finished up one week at the Morongo Canyon Preserve summer camp. Timothy after 4 years of hard work finished all requirements to be an official Junior Docent!!! Way to go Timothy!!
Sariah is convinced that she wants to be an artist when she grows up. We live in a great town for this with all the murals and art centers. I signed her up for a total of 10 one hour private lessons at the creative center. She is currently working to create an Elsa and Olaf masterpiece. The teacher is very impressed with how careful she is for her age. She also took some swim lessons.
Sam is headed off tomorrow for 1 week of camp in the Palomar mountain with the DEFY program he became a part of. It stands for Drug education for Youth. He is very excited. He will be home for 2 days and then he goes to scout camp with his mom for 1 week in the mountains by Big Bear! Timothy will be going to Big Bear for 4 days to run with some of Nathan's former students. This training is good preparation for the Cross country season and is paid for by a sponsor, who is a great friend of the family. Upon his return we will be leaving for 20 days of family fun vacation:)
