Day 16 - Back to the very beginning...

Our day started off fine with the 3 bigger people up and down to breakfast before 8.  We then loaded Sam and Sariah up in their PJs and headed up to Rockford and out of Illinois.  Although the traffic was light, the speed limit was 45 mph for about 40 miles alongside a big  road construction project before winter hits.  On into southern Wisconsin for our last stretch of new road before we got up to Madison.  Nathan got a warning highway stop from a Wisconsin state trooper lady which Solinda thought was very interesting...

On our way north and west, Solinda drove from Madison all the way up to Eau Claire which was her longest stretch of the trip.  It is truly amazing that every inch of countryside is completely green with intermittent patches of flowers and towns.  Late August is usually quite dry on the west coast and the start of fire season.  We arrived into our hotel (the Quality Inn in Bloomington) a little after 3 and rank this as our best stay of the entire trip.  We rearranged and packed the car (except for one bag) in preparation for  a very early morning at 4 am for the plane trips home via Denver and Las Vegas before the drive home.

Our last meal was at the same Perkins family restaurant here in Bloomington on Lyndale Ave. that we ate at exactly 2 weeks ago on Tuesday afternoon before the Twins game.  We again loved it and it is kind of cool to end where we started.  We are all a little sad that our fun time together is ending but are already looking forwards to and planning next summer!
