(7/21) After rolling out of bed from an exhausting day (due to the heat) in Boston, we bid farewell to Massachusetts and headed south into Rhode Island. We really enjoyed the capitol city of Providence, as it was very relaxed, and spent some enjoyable time in the Captitol building.
We enjoyed a retired Civil War gun from Gettysburg and the ornate work of the building. The library was quite unique. Sam quoted our feelings when he said, "The smallest state has the nicest Capitol building."
As we continued southwest in the state, we enjoyed the wide-open spaces and lack of people and bustle. We got off the interstate in the town of Wyoming to visit our old friend, Teresa ...... and her daughters Madison (13) and Megan (11). We also enjoyed time visiting with her Mother, ......., in Teresa's new home. They left 29 Palms 4 years ago and we spent time catching up on each others' lives. Stops like this always help us enjoy vacation time even more.
Since we stayed in the area over 3 hours, we continued to West Hartford, Connecticut and enjoyed our stay at the Holiday Inn Express and ordered takeout while Nathan did laundry. We decided to save the Connecticut State Capitol for tomorrow and we spent 3 hours on the phone trying to straighten out New York's accomodations due to a problem with our Expedia reservation...
