Well, the start of Sunday here in Atlanta started quite early, with Tim and Nathan getting up at 1:30 or so and getting to the airport to meet up with and provide a taxi service for Nathan's brother Brad and his girlfriend, Jennifer. All went quite well (suprisingly) and they had to wait only 10 minutes total. Everyone got into bed back at the hotel in College Park by 2:15 a.m.
With everyone dragging, we were unable to eat and make it to 10 or 11 o'clock church and thus missed the Atlanta Ward services with Bishop Black :( So, we checked out and headed north on I-85 to the north side of Atlanta, where we walked the grounds of the Atlanta temple a little after noon. After a little carside snack in the shade, we attended the North Point YSA Ward at 1:30 even though we were ready at 1;00. It gave us all time to read scriptures, focus on the sacrament ahead of time, and observe all of the young single adults as they arrived. As it was the first Sunday of the month, it was testimony meeting and testimonies went solid for well over one hour. All of the testimonies were very solid and we were all uplifted and impressed with the strength, spirit and power of the meeting! All 7 of us enjoyed it very much.
We then hunted down Los Amigos restaurant and had some great authentic food - which passed the Solinda and Jennifer test for taste and authenticity with flying colors. We then spent 45 minutes driving Brad's scenic route (from his GPS) down Peachtree Boulevard through Buckhead and scenic old Atlanta all the way south to our hotel in downtown Atlanta on Luckie Street. We checked in and all took an exhausted hour to hour and a half nap.
Stone Mountain was next on our agenda and we then headed north and east on the 285 belt route to get there. The drive was over an hour and we stopped for 30 minutes to get to-go food from Wendy's on the way. It was the first time any of us have seen the computers go down during an order. The kids ran around outside. By the time we got to Stone Mountain, it was completely dark - a bummer. Jen and Solinda wanted to see the souvenir store and we all wanted to see more what it was like during operations. We were still able to see the famous and free Laser Show, which was awesome! It covered Georgia tradition, American Pride, Civil Rights, and much more. The show was about 45 minutes and totally worth the parking.
We headed back to the hotel and got back around midnight...exhausted but happy!
